Level 1 Lesson 4 –Thank You and Sorry

Hello again!

Is there someone who has done a nice thing to you and you wanna say thank you? or do you wanna say sorry to someone in Tagalog? Well this is the lesson for you! In this lesson, you will learn how to say thank you and sorry. So, let's begin saying thank you.

thank you = salamat

Example:
Salamat sa lahat.
(Thank you for everything.)

Now let's move on to saying sorry.

sorry = patawad

Example:

Patawad sa nagawa ko.
(I'm sorry for what I've done.)

Another Tagalog word of sorry is "paumanhin", which is similar to 'excuse me' in a formal way.

sorry = paumanhin

Example:
Paumanhin kung ngayon lang ako dumating.
(I'm sorry for coming late.)

Another phrase to say to sorry is "Pasensya na".

Since Filipinos speak mixing English and Tagalog most of the time, "patawad" and "paumanhin" are rarely used these days.
